soporific-to become drowsy or sleep.

prevaricate-to speak falsely or to be misleading

reprehensible-to be blameworthy, of deseriving to be blamed

penitent- to express sorrow for any sins or wrong doings

*remorseful, apologetic, regretful (synonyms)
*The sinner had a penitent feeling so he went to confession to feel better about himself.

rapacious- to be greedy

*ravenous, voracious, grasping (synonyms)
*Matt is a very rapacious person, so never ask him to borrow money.

Megan,
Prevaricate is a verb, you use it as an adjective. (-1)
Read your sentence for rapacious carefully. Literally it means that one should never ask him to borrow money...what you mean to say is never ask to borrow money FROM Matt. (-1)
