Nicole's Vocab

Paradigm-
Part of Speech-It is a noun.
Description-It is something used to test or prove laws or theories.
Sentence- A paradigm for this math problem could be x>5.
Related words- A synonym is example or pattern, An antonym is counterexample.










Philology
Part of Speech- It is a noun.
Description- This is something one can study. It has to do with the history of language.
Sentence- If I want to know more about the culture of literature, I would want to study Philology.
Other Words-A synonym is lingustics,interpetation, or evensomething as simple as words.











Phonology
Part of Speech- It is a noun.
Description- This is the study of how words sound or how they can change over time.
Sentence- I wonder what the phonology of michigan was back 200 or so years ago.
Other Words-A derived word is phonetics. A synonym is dialect or even languages accents.









Rhetoric
Part of Speech- It is a noun.
Description- This is when people can be very persuasive whether it is writting or talking.
Sentence- In order to be good with communicating with others, you must be good at using rhetoric.
Other Words- Some synonyms are words, discourse and style.








Syntax
Part of Speech- It is a noun.
Description-This talks about how words should be in a certain order.
Sentence- When reading over essays, I try to look for errors in my syntax.
Other Words-Some synonyms are arrangement, grammer and structured sentences.
