1. Cognate
a. Two people sharing a similar ancestors; two words derived from the same language or meaning.

2. Derivative
a. Something that comes from another; a math term for finding the instantaneous rate of a slope by use of tangent slopes; a word formed from the base of another word followed by a suffix.
